WHERE did Confederation begin?

The idea of joining British colonies together to form one nation first began with the leaders of the New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia. The leaders of the Province of Canada asked to join and this would result in the formation of the beginnings of Canada.
All the leaders met for the Charlottetown Conference in September of 1864, on Prince Edward Island. The Charlottetown Conference was the first time that leaders from Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Canada had met to discuss a union. It was the first of three conferences and where the spirit of Confederation was born.
The next conference was the Quebec Conference held in October of 1864 in Quebec City. At this conference 72 resolutions, known as the Quebec Resolutions, were made up to decide how the country would be run. Although leaders from PEI and Newfoundland were at the conference, these colonies decided not to join Confederation.
The last meeting for Confederation was The London Conference which took place in London, England from December 1866 to January 1867. The leaders from New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and the Province of Canada created the British North America Act at this meeting and this was the beginning of Confederation.
